So you're not enjoying your job any more....

So Autumn is here- my favourite month. Not just because it is my birthday (maybe a little) but also it is a time where winter clothes start to make an appearance, cold nights start to proceed us and you can snuggle up with a blanket and hot chocolate. Sad aren't I?! Autumn is also for me, a time of change, many people say Spring is the month of change but I also feel that Autumn is. As I'm typing this, it's my last but one day before I leave this dead end job I have been in for 3 months. I must admit, I enjoyed it for the first month- knowing I'd have a pay check come through at the end of the month motivated me to stay in the job. After a month, things went downhill, my second pay check was completely different to my pay check in the first month for no reason and I would be left on my own to look after the office from 1 until 5.30pm- still not knowing what to do in some cases if someone came in. I was left in the lurch. I was given no work to do and after about the 10th time of asking for something to do, I gave in and ended up spending my day looking through online magazines. I trawled through job sites looking for something better to do but everything was part time.

EVENTUALLY, I managed to find a new job and I start on 3rd October so I have a nice week off before I start work again. Hopefully, this is a lot more active as I can't STAND sitting at a desk all day- I want to be constantly busy! My new job sounds a lot more professional. For one we are paid through our bank account rather than cash in hand and two, we have a uniform- whereas this job we could turn up in whatever we like. This week has been a trauma. Having to tell my boss that I'm leaving and watch his face turn red and angry and having to put up with a week of pure torture. If something wasn't done as soon as he told me, that's it, he went on a rant. And the amount of digs and sly comments he made when he was on the phone was unbelievable. "Sorry for the delayed response", he'd say. "One of our employees is leaving and has only given a weeks notice". Bearing in mind I have only been at the job for 3 months and have not been given a contract stating the amount of notice one must give! The only thing that is getting me through these last 2 days is the idea of a week off and starting a job that i well and truly like the idea of!

You're not enjoying your job any more...

You might encounter a little bit of boredom in your job, that's work for you! But, when it gets to the point where you're bored everyday and you start to not look forward to work or resent the idea of it, then it's time for a new job. I guess saying it is easy, but when it comes to the realisation that 'God, what am I going to do instead?' That's when it becomes difficult. Going through the painful process of handing your notice in, having to face your boss for those 5 gruelling minutes as you explain why you want to leave is something no one likes doing (unless your boss is an A grade idiot then go ahead and enjoy the moment). You've just got to grit your teeth, hand your notice in and make sure you realise that your boss and whoever else is in charge, is going to be watching your every move- trying to find that little thing to have you up on- remember, your new employer will probably ask for a reference so do your current job to the best of your ability so they can't have anything negative to say about you!

 You're doing this for you...

You're doing this for you. You want a change of job? You can have a change of job! It doesn't matter what Carl the Cock thinks about you leaving or what Sue the Sap thinks about your decision because guess what? You're doing this for you. When Carl the Cock is still sat at that desk doing nothing and you're flying high at a job you're enjoying, then who's going to be laughing ayy? So ignore people like Carl the Cock and Sue the Sap and enjoy the change, because only you are the one living your life.
